Anna University,Chennai-International Symposium On Advances In Storage And Post-Harvest Processing Of Foods For Better Health

College Name:
Anna University, Chennai.

Symposium Name:  International Symposium On Advances In Storage And Post-Harvest Processing Of Foods For Better Health

About Symposium: India is the world’s 2nd largest producer of food. There is a wide opportunity for investments in food and food processing technologies, skills and infrastructure, especially in areas of fruits and vegetables, packaged / convenience foods, fermented foods, underutilized grains and agri-waste bioprocessing for functional ingredients. Further, health food and supplements are other rapidly rising segments of this
industry. After harvest, foods are highly liable to physiological, chemical, and microbial processes which lead to deterioration of food quality and safety. Post-harvest loss reduction technology encompasses the usage of optimum harvest factors, reduction of loss in handling, packaging, transportation and storage with modern infrastructure machinery, with proper processing and fortification. Adoption of these techniques could make food, available in large quantity, by avoiding loss and provide quality food and nutrition, more raw materials for processing, thus ensuring better returns to the farmers.
The objective of the symposium is to throw light on the recent trends in technologies for storage and post-harvest processing with focus on preservation of nutrients and functional ingredients. The overview of this is to disseminate the knowledge in improving the storage and post harvesting techniques which are of value to all stake holders - farmer, food processing departments and agencies working in the field, educational institutes, other research bodies, industry experts, associations and consortia of the industry and consulting organizations.
The symposium is for the benefit of research scholars, researchers from science, medicine, engineering and R&D sectors in India. The speakers are experts in academia and industry from India and Australia.
